Alex Ramsey

Alex Ramsey is an Emmy-winning filmmaker whose work moves between documentary realism and carefully constructed imagery. Trained first as an editor, he brings a strong sense of rhythm, sound, and pacing to his directing.

His films have been featured by Vimeo Staff Picks, NOWNESS, Documentary+, and Director’s Notes, with recognition from the 1.4 Awards, Berlin Commercial Awards, and festivals around the world. His feature documentary Tiler Peck: Suspending Time premiered on PBS in 2025 after six years of filming, following the New York City Ballet star through injury, recovery, and her reinvention as a choreographer. The film went on to earn him a News & Documentary Emmy.

A lifelong drummer, Alex has always been interested in the relationship between music and film. Away from set, he's an economics obsessive and an entrepreneur, having built two independent media companies alongside his filmmaking career.
